Our HQ – Dower House

Dower House was a plain brick building that was transformed with a decorative columned façade in 1803. The ha-ha in front of the house stopped the cattle from grazing on the formal lawns, making a barrier which can’t be seen from the house.

In 2004 it became the HQ of the Manchester & District Beekeepers’ Association.

Inside the House

There is an Observation Hive where bees can be seen going about their business. Children love to watch the hive activity. Additionally we extract honey from the comb in the most natural way possible on site.

You will also find an abundance of information relating to the Honey Bee and other pollinating insects.

In The Garden

At the rear of the building is the garden with our Apiary where many colonies of Honey Bees are living in the hives.

If you are interested in plants for pollinators the garden contains a fabulous abundance of plants for you to browse.
